What I Wish I’d Known Sooner
  • To wrap things up successfully, you need a cohesive team, the right balance of serenity and urgency, and an almost unreasonable level of dedication. Don’t get too hung up on short-term opinions; those worries will fade over time.
  • There’s always a way and there’s always a way out, don’t give up and keep looking.
  • It’s often more fulfilling for a team to tackle a tough, meaningful challenge than to settle for something easy that doesn’t matter much. Big, bold goals are what really get people excited.
  • Channel your resources into a few high-impact areas. It’s a simple concept but surprisingly difficult to pull off. Be prepared to trim the excess and focus on what truly matters.
  • Getting started takes a mix of optimism, passion, confidence, and a dash of drive, along with building genuine connections.
  • Keep your communication straightforward and to the point.
  • Stand up against unnecessary bureaucracy and red tape whenever you encounter it, and get others on board to do the same. Don’t let organizational charts stand in the way of effective teamwork.
  • The end results are what truly matter; don’t let a slick process excuse poor outcomes.
  • Keep pushing forward and don’t let setbacks stop you.
